The Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations may grant permission for individuals to audit a specific course upon request. An auditor may attend lectures and other class meetings and take part in class discussions. Auditors will not receive evaluations of their participation and will not be allowed to submit assignments or write examinations/tests, except with written permission from the Chair and Course Instructor. Auditing is permitted at the discretion of the Course Instructor. To request permission to audit a course, please complete this form and return it to the department.
Course Instructors may issue a Certificate of Attendance to auditors who have attended at least 75 percent of class meetings. If an auditor wishes to receive a Certificate of Attendance, he/she must notify the Course Instructor in writing before the first meeting of the class.
The current non-refundable fee for auditing a course in the Department of Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations is $400 for a full course (1.0 FCE) and $400 for a half-course (0.5 FCE). These fees do not apply to individuals who are currently registered as students at the University of Toronto.
