Biography
As an Egyptologist, I specialise in the history and philology of the Graeco-Roman and Late Antique periods. My research involves preparing editions of Egyptian texts, primarily Demotic and Coptic manuscripts, and studying topics such as the history of science, particularly the astral sciences, and social history. Although I focus on written evidence, my research also considers art and material culture. Additionally, I have examined other areas of ancient Egyptian culture, such as religious practices and onomastics across the entire span of Egyptian history. Prior to Toronto, I held several teaching and research positions at various universities, including Berkeley, Berlin, Oxford, and Warsaw.
